The first Daffodil has arrived at Laughing Fox. We will be covered with them in less than a month. What a joy to see nature at work!

What a lovely record of your restoration! I am envious of your progress. I own an 1831 in Georgia and and just getting startedon the restoration. I will soon be removing the vinyl siding.

My floors and doors are original and are in good condition, as are all interior walls, since they are solid, 12-inch, horizontal boards. My shutters are missing and my wood windows are not original, although I do have one window (with mortise, tenon and peg joinery) out in the old kitchen. I have four fireplaces with original mantles, but the openings are boarded up and the original, handmade bricks at the tops of the chimneys are deteriorating.

I'd love to ask some questions about geothermal, insulation, replacement windows and chimney rebuilding, but I fear my comments would be too long here.

My email is p-i-r-k-i-e (without the hyphens) at...yahoo. If you prefer that I ask my questions via this blog, let me know and I'll give it a shot. I look forward to comparing notes and hearing your advice. :)
